New York State Police have issued a warning that the week of August 8 to 14 has been targeted as Speed Week. All types of vehicles will be monitored for speed as well as other traffic violations.
Highway crashes increase during the summer months, partly because there are more cars on the road. Major Michael Kopy, Commander of Troop K, said in a press release, Were encouraging the public to think about their driving behavior and comply with speed limits to help prevent needless tragedies.
Every available state trooper will be on patrol during Speed Week. So buckle up, read traffic signs, give the accelerator a rest and, along the way, save gasoline. According to fueleconomy.gov, every five mph over 60 mph costs you an additional 30 cents per gallon. Do the math.
