State police, members of the Pawling Fire Department and Transcare Paramedics were dispatched by Dutchess County 911 to the scene.

Troopers located a 2003 Land Rover resting against a tree on the west shoulder of Old Route 22.

The 46-year-old Trimble was unresponsive and unconscious, police said. He was evaluated by EMS and pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say an initial investigation indicated Trimble was northbound on Route 22 when he attempted to turn right onto Old Route 22, before losing control of the vehicle ,causing it to exit the roadway and strike an earth embankment. The vehicle continued on Old Route 22 and collided with a tree, police said.

Trimble was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the collision, according to police. Speed is believed to be a contributing factor in the crash, police said.

The Dutchess County Medical Examiner's Office responded to the scene and assisted State Police with the investigation.
