NORTH SALEM, N.Y. — The body of a man found by State Police on Saturday has been identified as Alexander Hamilton, 24, who hanged himself from a tree in the woods near Cotswold Drive in North Salem, the Westchester County Medical Examiner's Office said Sunday.

An autopsy Sunday determined the cause of death to be "asphyxia by hanging," confirming police suspicion that the death was a suicide. Hamilton lived in North Salem.

State Police did not suspect foul play when they found his body at about 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the wooded area, said State Police Investigator Cornelius Merritt of the Somers barracks.
