NORTH SALEM, N.Y. - North Salem Superintendent of Schools Ken Freeston has made the following announcement in response to Friday's shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn.:
The school district has received a few phone calls from concerned parents regarding the school shootings today in Newtown, Conn, Dr. Freeston first learned about the situation as it was occurring via a tweet from inside one of the locked down schools. He personally monitored the developments for the duration of the 3 hour lock down for possible risks to safety here in North Salem.
The situation is now secure and there is no risk to public safety, according to the Connecticut State police.
