Efijenio Deletorre, 62, of Yonkers was found after police responded to a report of a possible dead person inside of Van Cortlandt Park. Upon arrival, officers discovered an unidentified Deletorre, unconscious and unresponsive with multiple stab wounds to his torso, the NYPD said.

On Saturday, NYPD detectives arrested Eugene Villani of Yonkers after he walked into a Bronx station house and said he had stabbed the man because he tried to rob him.

Villani, who did not offer details as to why he turned himself in, was charged with murder, manslaughter and criminal possession of a weapon, the NYPD said.

Villani has a long police record and has spent more than seven years in jail for crimes ranging from assault to criminal possession of stolen property, including time for aggravated assault and criminal mischief in Florida.

Additional details were not available. The investigation is ongoing.
