Ballroom Dancing: 1 p.m. Learn the basic steps, turns, leads, timing, rhythm and movements of various ballroom dances. This is the first of four classes, scheduled for May 7, May 14, May 21 and June 4. The class is open to both Somers residents and non-residents. The fee is $20 per person for all four classes. Tuesday, May 8
Old Salem Farm: 8 a.m. The prestigious stables 30th annual Spring Horse Show officially begins on Tuesday and continues through May 20, except for Mondays. Old Salem Farm is located at 190 June Road, North Salem.
Pequenakonck School PTO Meeting: 9 a.m. The PTO will meet at the school, 173 June Road, North Salem.
Mother Goose Storytime: 10:30 a.m. Children from newborns to 2½-year-olds are invited to come with their caregivers to the Ruth Keeler Library to listen to Mother Goose stories. The library is at 276 Titicus Road, North Salem.
North Salem Town Board Meeting: 7:30 p.m. The Town Board will meet in the North Salem Town Hall Annex at 274 Titicus Road, North Salem.
Middle School Concert: 8 p.m. Students of the North Salem Middle School will present an instrumental concert. The Middle/High School is at 230 June Road, North Salem.
Wednesday, May 9
Family Stories & Crafts: 10:30 a.m. Stories and crafts for all ages are offered weekly at the Ruth Keeler Library, 276 Titicus Road, North Salem.
Wednesday Block Party: 11 a.m. The library supplies the blocks, children supply the imagination. The party takes place every Wednesday at the Ruth Keeler Memorial Library, 276 Titicus Road, North Salem.
Meet the Board of Education Candidates: 7 p.m. The League of Women Voters will sponsor a meeting of the BOE candidates in the North Salem Middle/High School Library, 230 June Road, North Salem.
Internet Safety Presentation: 7:30 p.m. Parents can learn more about cyberbullying and social networking at this presentation organized by the PQ PTO and the MS/HS PTO. Somers Women's Club Welcomes New Members: 7:30 p.m. The Somers Women's Club will offer an informational program. The club is open to women of all ages in Somers (and surrounding communities who do not have a Women's Club). Membership has grown significantly in the past few years. The annual installation of new members will also be conducted at this meeting which takes place at the Somers Library, 82 Primrose St., Somers.
Thursday, May 10
Puppets with Elizabeth: 10:30 a.m. Children of all ages are invited to learn about puppets and see a show at the Ruth Keeler Library, 276 Titicus Road, North Salem.
200 Years of Dickens: 7 p.m. The book discussion on Thursday evening will center on Jane Smileys biography of Charles Dickens. Those who havent read the book are welcome to attend. This is the second of the librarys four-part celebration of Dickens bicentennial. The Ruth Keeler Library is at 276 Titicus Road, North Salem.
North Salem Zoning Board of Appeals Meeting: 8 p.m. The Board will meet at the North Salem Town House Annex, 335 Route 202, North Salem.
