Friday, July 27

41st Annual Putnam County 4-H Fair: Friday noon - 6 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. - 7 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. It’s the 41st anniversary of the Putnam County 4-H Fair, featuring a plant sale, educational and environmental exhibits, a games tent, a discovery depot tent, lots of entertainment, plenty of food including a chicken barbecue, and animals — lots and lots of animals. Muscoot’s 4-H Gang will be there, too. Admission is free. The fair will be held at Veterans Memorial Park, 201 Gipsy Trail Road, Kent.

Somers Tremor Group: 1:30 - 4:30 p.m. The Somers Tremor Group, dedicated to the neurological disorder which causes involuntary shaking, quivering or quavering, will meet for a tai chi session, followed by a discussion period. The tai chi starts at 1:30 p.m.; the discussion starts at 3 p.m. There is no charge, but a donation of $10 from those attending the tai chi portion would be appreciated. It’s at the Somers Library, Reis Park, Route 139, Somers.

Sleepover at the Library: 7 p.m. This is a special event for children entering kindergarten through fifth grade. Participants must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Play games, watch a movie, eat snacks and bunk down in the library. Registration is required. For details, call the library at 914-669-5161. The Ruth Keeler Memorial Library is at 276 Titicus Road, North Salem.

“Merchant of Venice”: 7:30 - 9:30 p.m. The popular theater group Curtain Call Inc. of Stamford, Conn., will present Shakespeare’s “Merchant of Venice” on the lawn at the Hammond Museum. Bring a picnic basket and blanket. The garden opens at 6 p.m. Tickets are $15. The Hammond Museum and its Japanese Stroll Garden are at 28 Deveau Road, North Salem.

Saturday, July 28

St. James Church  54th Annual Auction: 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. People wait in groups at the barrier until opening time, then rush up the driveway, already immersed in auction fever. By the end of the day, everything is gone. Items are on sale until noon, then the auction bidding begins. No entry fee. St. James Episcopal Church is at 296 Titicus Road, near the intersection of June Road, in North Salem.

Bilingual Story Time: 10:30 a.m. Barbara will entertain children of all ages with Spanish-English songs and stories. It’s at the Ruth Keeler Memorial Library, Titicus Road, North Salem.

Sunday, July 29

Farmers Market: 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. Fresh produce, meats, cheese, soaps, candles, honey, maple syrup, flowers, fish and delicacies from local farmers and artisans will be available. The Muscoot Farmers Market will continue every Sunday through October. Muscoot Farm is on Route 100, 1½ miles south of Route 35 in Somers.
