Winter Storm Nemo Arrives In North Salem

NORTH SALEM, N.Y. – Salt spreaders took to the streets of North Salem Friday morning as Winter Storm Nemo began to make itself known.

The National Weather Service predicts around a foot of snow for Northern Westchester, with seven or eight inches falling Friday and more coming Saturday morning. Heavy winds will create travel difficulties and possible power outages.

The storm has forced the closing of North Salem schools and cancellations of various events scheduled for the weekend.

The Friday and Saturday performances of "The Princess Bride" at North Salem High School have been rescheduled to Sunday, Feb. 10, at 2 p.m. and Friday, Feb. 15, at 8 p.m.

Ruth Keeler Memorial Library will close at noon Friday. All Saturday programs have been canceled. The Pinkalicious Tea Party is rescheduled to March 9. Gardening and Inventors club gatherings are both rescheduled to Feb. 16. 

The Front Street Cellar wine tasting has been rescheduled to Feb. 15 from 5 to 8 p.m. Art & Celebration at the Union Hall General Store has been rescheduled to Feb. 15 from 7 to 9 p.m.

Funeral arrangements for George Russell at the Clark Associates Funeral Home in Katonah have been postponed to Sunday, Feb. 10. The new visiting hours are Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m., followed by a 6:30 p.m. prayer service at the funeral home.

NYSEG has not reported any power outages.
