The incident took place Tuesday after troopers received a notice to be on the lookout for a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer from Pittsfield, Mass., with a woman and five children, said Trooper Kelly Grant.

According to officials, the woman, Shareen Tanna, 40, had taken her three children in violation of a custodial interference order, along with two others and had threatened to harm herself and the children.

She was believed to be traveling to Rochester, N.Y., where she had a home, and police were not sure if she had weapons in the vehicle, Grant said.

A Connecticut trooper located Tanna and the children at an AllTown convenience store on Newtown Road in Danbury, Grant added.

Tanna was taken into custody without incident and was charged with being a fugitive from justice. She will face kidnapping charges in Massachusetts.

No one was hurt, and all of the children were returned to their guardians.

Tanna is being held on $100,000 awaiting extradition.
