North Salem Loses Longtime Resident Bob Giordano

NORTH SALEM, N.Y. – North Salem lost a longtime resident and civic leader when Bob Giordano , 72, passed away Monday.

Giordano, who was an active 40-year member of St. Joseph’s Order of the Knights of Columbus, was described by his fellow Knights as “a man of faith, integrity, love of family and compassion for his fellow man.” Family friend Lorraine Mackin, remarked, “That is so true. It is exactly Bob. He was really like that. And very funny, too.”

Both Bob Giordano and his wife, Patricia, were industrious members of the North Salem Democratic Committee, recalled North Salem Judge Ralph Mackin. Giordano served as a Democratic member of the Town Board and also served as Town Judge for several years, Mackin added. “He was an intelligent, lovely personality and a nice guy.”

Giordano attended Fordham University and Fordham School of Law, where he edited the Law Review. He became a specialist in Estate Tax and Trusts, with a law office in White Plains, and served the County of Westchester as a New York State Tax attorney. He also was a member of the Magistrates Association of New York and served on the Board of Directors of the Westchester Arthritis Foundation.

A devoted communicant at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Croton Falls, Giordano also was a member of the Planned Gift Committee of the New York Archdiocese. In his spare time, he was a musician, a hockey enthusiast and a New York Yankees fan. He and his family enjoyed spending time in Montauk and Florida.

“Bob was a great councilman and judge, who looked aside from politics and worked tirelessly for the town, always keeping its best interests at heart,” said North Salem Supervisor Warren Lucas.

Survivors include Giordano’s wife; his son, Robert and wife, Gail; his daughters, Jeanine with husband, Michael Mackay, and Rachel Mackay; and several siblings, nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the Clark Associates Funeral Home, 4 Woods Bridge Road, Katonah. A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Croton Falls Road, Croton Falls.
