South Salem Fire Department Mourns Loss Of Life Member Martin Donohue

Martin T. "Marty" Donohue, a life member of the South Salem Fire Department, died Thursday, Feb. 23 at his home in Warwick, Rhode Island. He was 83.

Donohue was the husband of Maryanne T. Mascia Donohue. 

Born in the Bronx, he was son of the late Martin T. and Stella (Amodeo) Donohue. He was the father of Mark T. Donohue and Karen S. Donohue; grandfather of Madison Hoffmann and Parker Hoffmann.

Donohue was a signal maintainer for the New York City Transit Authority and Metro-North and a member of Teamsters Local 100. 

The South Salem Fire Department called Donohue "the quintessential American volunteer fireman. Never one to engage in disagreements or department politics, Marty was content just to be a part of the organization and was always happy to lend a hand with his smoking pipe in hand.

Visitation was held Saturday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m, with a service to follow at 3 p.m. in the Thomas & Walter Quinn Funeral Chapel, 2435 Warwick Ave., in Warwick, Rhode Island.
