Bicyclist Killed In Danbury Crash Identified

DANBURY, Conn. — A bicyclist who was died after he was pinned under an SUV in a crash in Danbury last week has been identified as a 56-year-old homeless man, according to the News-Times.

Two men were arrested after police found them in possession of marijuana at a Danbury playground.

John Haffa's address was the city’s shelter on New Street, and he had stayed the past three winters at the overflow shelter at the the First Congregational Church in winter, the News-Times said.

The accident happened at about 8 a.m. Oct. 11 as a motorist driving a 2005 Nissan Xterra east on Madison Avenue turned right onto North Street and hit Haffa, who was riding his bike north on North Street on the west side of the road, Danbury police said.

Danbury Fire and medical personnel used extraction tools to lift Haffa out from underneath the SUV, police said.
