Emergency Responders Use Naloxone, Narcan To Save Dover Overdose Victim

DOVER PLAINS, N.Y. -- Emergency responders, including state police from the Dover Plains barracks and members of Northern Dutchess Paramedics, rescued a 29-year-old man who overdosed at a residence in the Town of Dover on Thursday.

The Dover man was transported to New Milford Hospital by Northern Dutchess Paramedics, who had administered Narcan.

Upon arrival, the troopers discovered the man without a pulse. An Investigation revealed he had possibly overdosed on heroin, state police said.

Troopers administered three doses of Naloxone and within minutes, were able to locate a pulse.

Northern Dutchess Paramedics arrived on scene and administered an additional dose of Narcan intravenously and the subject regained consciousness and became responsive.
