Firefighters Save Truck Driver After Route 22 Crash In Southeast

SOUTHEAST, N.Y. -- Firefighters had to use the “Jaws of Life” Wednesday to free an injured driver from the mangled remains of his truck in Brewster, according to a report by lohud.com.

Members of the Brewster Fire Department, along with those from the Croton Falls and Putnam Lake departments, helped free a man trapped in the wreckage of a truck crash on Route 22.

The unidentified victim had crashed into a tree near the intersection of Route 22 and Milltown Road in the Town of Southeast, lohud.com reported.

His legs were pinned and it took emergency crews from the Brewster, Croton Falls and Putnam Lake fire departments about 15 minutes to get him out so he could be taken to Danbury Hospital, the lohud.com story said.

State police told lohud.com that it appears that the driver had fallen asleep at the wheel.
