Federal guidelines had called for Greenwood to serve a much longer sentence, upwards of 80 years, but the former supervisor appealed to the courts to serve no more than five years in prison, LoHud.com reported.

Greenwood pleaded guilty to six counts of securities fraud in 2010 and has 10 days to appeal the sentence if he chooses, LoHud.com said.

Greenwood's partner, Stephen Walsh was sentenced to 20 years last month, LoHud.com said.
