The fire then spread through the attic, according to Lena. Fire damage was contained to the upper portion of the house, Lena recalled, with there being moderate water damage throughout the building.

The house, located on Stephanie Lane in Mahopac, is in a quiet neighborhood near the border with Somers. The damage from the blaze is prominent on the building's roof.

Mahopac's fire department was dispatched at 12:31 p.m. on Sunday, Lena said.

Fire departments providing mutual aid, according to Lena, included Mahopac Falls, Somers, Brewster, Croton Falls and Mohegan. It took about 45 minutes to get the fire under control, Lena recall, with about two hours spent doing overall work.

There were no injuries and nobody was at home, Lena said.
