Preliminary investigation has shown that a 1990 Nissan pickup operated by Hyde Park resident Brian S. Sherow, 53, was traveling southbound on Route 22 near Irondale Road in North East at about 1:15 p.m. when it crossed over the center pavement markings and struck a northbound 2016 Chevrolet pickup operated by 49-year-old Eftichia Amouris of Hillsdale in Columbia County, said Captain John Watterson of the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office.

Sherow was transported to Sharon Hospital in Connecticut where he was pronounced dead, and Amouris was initially transported to Sharon Hospital but then later transferred to Vassar Hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Watterson said.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Village of Millerton Police, the Millerton Fire Department, Northern Dutchess Paramedics, and the Copake Community Rescue Squad. At this time no charges have been filed, the investigation is continuing by members of the Sheriff’s Office Crash Investigation Unit.
