Mahopac Woman Found With Cocaine, Heroin, Police Say

MAHOPAC, N.Y. -- A Mahopac woman was charged with drug possession on Aug. 3, after being stopped by a Putnam County deputy for several traffic violations, according to Sheriff Donald B. Smith.

Deputy Sheriff Christopher Irwin stopped Dawn Variara, 38, who had committed traffic violations on Route 312 in the Town of Southeast. The deputy determined that Variara was in possession of both cocaine and heroin, police said. 

Variara was charged with two counts of criminal possession of a controlled substance. She was processed at the Putnam County Correctional Facility and released pending a court date.
