The operator of a 2001 Kawasaki motorcycle, Roberto I. Santiago, 22, from the Bronx, was on the southbound side of I-87 near McLean Avenue and said to be speeding when he lost control during a turn and collided with the median barrier, according to state police.
After being ejected from his motorcycle, he eventually sustained life-threatening injuries from which he couldn't recover.
The motorcycle traveled another 1/10 of a mile before bursting into flames, police said.
The Yonkers Fire Department responded and got the scene under control.
