State police troopers and East Fishkill police officers arrested Jaquan R. Rosado, 24, on Monday night after he ran from the driver’s seat of a white Econoline van near Todd Hill Road, according to state police.

Earlier in the evening, troopers had tried to pull Rosado over on the parkway near Arthursburg Road to investigate his suspected involvement in the theft of a Kawasaki motorcycle from the garage of a Millbrook home, state police said.

Instead of obeying police commands, Rosado is accused of crossing over the parkway’s median near Beekman Road, driving south in the northbound lanes, according to police, who said that it was around this time that Rosado crashed the van into an East Fishkill police car.

While the police vehicle was substantially damaged, the officer behind the wheel was uninjured, according to state police.

After his arrest, Rosado was taken to the East Fishkill Police Department headquarters. He was later charged with second-degree assault, second-degree reckless endangerment, unlawful fleeing an officer in a motor vehicle, reckless driving and leaving the scene of a property damage auto accident, according to police.

After posting $700 cash bail, Rosado was taken to the state police barracks in Poughkeepsie. There, he faces felony charges of first-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, third-degree burglary, third-degree criminal possession of stolen property, first-degree reckless endangerment, fourth-degree grand larceny and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property, according to police.

After Rosado left the East Fishkill police station, investigators there determined that he had paid his bail using counterfeit money, according to authorities, who said that he was additionally charged in East Fishkill with first-degree possession of a forged instrument.

State police later discovered that the Econoline van he had been driving shortly before his arrest had been reported stolen from Bridgeport, according to police, who said that he was additionally found to have possessed several counterfeit $100 bills.

Rosado was arraigned in Washington Town Court, according to authorities, who said that he was taken to the Dutchess County jail, where he was held on $5,000 cash bail.
