Motorists Face DWI Charges After Pullovers In Putnam

PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- Two drivers have been arrested over the past couple of weeks in Putnam County on charges of driving while intoxicated, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office said.

In one incident, an officer stopped a driver Jan. 15 at 1:36 a.m. for traffic violations on Route 311 in Kent, the department said.

The driver, Christina M. Pondiccio, 21, of Danbury, Conn., was allegedly found to be intoxicated, according to the department.

Pondiccio was charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, after allegedly failing standardized field sobriety tests, said the department.

She was held at Putnam County Correctional Facility pending her arraignment.

Then on Jan. 28 about 2:50 a.m. police conducted a traffic stop of a motorist on Route 312 in Southeast, the department said.

The officer determined that the driver, James F. Sorrell, 31, of Carmel was intoxicated, according to the Sheriff's Office.

He was arrested and charged with driving while intoxicated, a misdemeanor, after allegedly failing standardized field sobriety tests, said the department.

He was held at Putnam County Correctional Facility pending his arraignment.
