N. Salem Police Investigate Credit Card Fraud Complaint

NORTH SALEM, N.Y. – North Salem police, along with state police, were called to a Route 22 residence in Croton Falls on Tuesday, Nov. 13, to investigate a fraud complaint.

The victim told police that, in August, she filed a report with the state police regarding fraudulent activity on three of her credit cards. That incident is still under investigation. On Nov. 13, she said she was contacted by GE Capital Bank and was informed that her personal information was being used again to obtain credit on her Master Card.

North Salem police requested that state troopers respond to the location. They were apprised of the situation and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation was then notified of the specifics of the case. A report of the Nov. 13 incident was filed with state place and the investigation in the fraud complaint will continue.

On Saturday, police were called to Peach Lake Road on a report that the property owner’s chickens had been attacked by two stray dogs and that one dog was caught and confined to a horse stall.

The homeowner stated that two dogs came from the wooded area at the rear of her property and began chasing her chickens, causing them to scatter. One chicken was injured, but would survive, and a second was unaccounted for.

She then showed the officer the dog she was able to catch – a black labradoodle. The dog was transported to South Salem Animal Hospital for safekeeping until the owner could be found.

On Friday, police responded to Bloomer Road for a dog found by one of the guests of the Salem Golf Club. The guest said the dog, a long-haired Jack Russell mixed breed, was found walking down the middle of Hardscrabble Road and he brought it to the club. The dog was delivered by police to the South Salem Animal Hospital.
