Shortly before 2:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 19,  a Berwick Road woman was woken up by a loud noise that "sounded like paper flying," at which point she woke up her husband, who reported to police that they saw two men, wearing ski masks, running through the second floor of the home.

According to police, the wife made an emergency 911 call, while her husband confronted one of the masked men, who has been described as 5-foot-10 with a lanky build and long arms, weighing between 160 and 170 pounds. During the confrontation, a physical altercation ensued and the man "began to grapple with the guilty party and was able to slam them into the top of the stairs," police said.

The suspect managed to break free of the homeowner's grasp and fled through the front door of the home in an unknown direction, police said. During the altercation, the man reported he heard a "pop" noise that sounded similar to a taser.

While her husband was grappling with the first suspect, the woman who made the 911 call chased the second suspect into a second-floor bathroom, where she cornered him. According to the police report, she yelled "Get the (expletive deleted) out of my house," at which point the suspect ran out of the bathroom, down to the first floor and out through the family room window that police believe the two gained entry to the home.

Police set up a hotline to neighboring jurisdictions and a Westchester County Police scent dog was brought to the scene. Responding officers conducted a canvas of the area with negative results, and the K9 Unit was able to track the suspects south on Berwick Road, at which point the scent went cold.

It is currently believed that the suspects were able to get away with a wallet and two iPads. The investigation into the incident is ongoing. Anyone with information regarding the incident can confidentially call investigators with the Scarsdale Police Department at (914) 722-1200.
