NORTH SALEM, N.Y. The Croton Falls Fire Chief's vehicle was damaged early Friday morning when it struck at deer on Titicus Road, North Salem Police reported. The deer darted out of the woods and collided with the vehicle, which was headed north, police said. The car's right front fender and hood were damaged.
The North Salem Police also reported the following incidents:
Suspended Registration: A car with a suspended registration was identified with a computerized license plate reader and stopped by North Salem Officer Paul Smith on June Road on Saturday evening. Smith was able to reverse directions and catch up with the vehicle at the intersection of June and Quaker Roads. The driver was issued a summons for driving with a suspended registration due to a lapse in insurance coverage.
Peach Lake Break-in: A Pietsch Garden resident returned home on Monday after a one-week absence and reported his window air conditioner pushed in and a collection of stamps and coins and other items missing.
Tenant Issues: A Titicus Road resident told police she has had an ongoing problem with tenants who are either residing or working at the farm where her home is located. She recently reported a burglary of her home to the New York State Police. On Tuesday, she told North Salem Police Officer Silvio Ruvolo that a number of items, not necessarily valuable ones, had been removed from her car.
The New York State Police reported the following incident:
Safety Detail: The New York State Police conducted an Occupant Safety Enforcement Detail in the area Wednesday morning and issued a total of 44 tickets, mainly for failure to wear a seat belt. The initiative is part of the State Police mission to reduce deaths, injuries and property damage caused by motor vehicle accidents.
