NORTH SALEM, N.Y. – A driver with a suspended vehicle registration triggered the License Plate Reader as Chief Thomas Howley was conducting a radar enforcement along Route 22 on Friday. The officer stopped the car and contacted the Department of Motor Vehicles, who confirmed a suspension due to a lapse of insurance coverage. The vehicle was impounded and the officer issued a summons for lack of insurance and explained to the driver what he would need to do to reinstate his registration.
The North Salem Police also reported the following incidents:
- Responding to a report of a suspicious person at a vacant house on Nash Road on Friday afternoon, Officer Ralph Argiento interviewed the suspect, who proved to be the owner of house.
- In another suspicious person case, a man with a Connecticut license plate was reported to be parked at the high school track for no apparent reason on Wednesday. A witness thought she might have seen the same car parked there on several other occasions. As she approached the man, however, he got into his car and drove away.
