Both 33-year-old men -- Angel H. Parra Penafiel and Hugo Ramirez-Morales -- lived on the farm where they were employed as laborers. They stole and then sold the hay over the last several years, police said.
Parra Penafiel and Ramirez-Morales were arraigned in the Town of North Salem Justice Court before Judge John M. Aronian and remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail/bond. The defendants are scheduled to return to the North Salem Court on Monday, Jan. 11.
State police did not draw any link between the arrests and Colley's murder.
Colley, 83, was found lying on the laundry room floor of her home by a caretaker at approximately 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 10. The cause of death was ruled to be blunt-force trauma.
Police are still looking for a fire extinguisher that went missing from the Colley estate as part of the investigation.
There were no signs of forced entry into the Colley residence,
Colley was the wife of Eugene Colley, a multi-millionaire who owns more than 100 McDonald's franchises.
