The officer, who was parked on Main Street near I-95 to help block an area near a water main break that was being worked on by SUEZ employees, was hit by Juan Fernandez around 3:30 a.m., said New Rochelle Police Capt. Robert Gazzola.

Fernandez, 46, was booked for DWI and spent the night in jail. He was released the next morning, Gazzola said.

The officer was treated at the hospital and is back on duty. The cruiser received minor damage, he added.
