NORTH SALEM, N.Y. – A Purdys home was entered by a stranger at about 1:30 p.m. Monday shortly after one of the occupants drove away, said New York State Trooper Brian Dedusevic.
The homeowner’s 13-year-old son was at home, however, and was alerted to the intruder by his small dog. When the man encountered the boy in his bedroom, he ran from the house and drove off, turning onto Route 22.
The teen described the car as possibly an older model Dodge Neon without hubcaps, silver grey, with an old style New York license plate. The intruder was the only occupant of the car, according to the boy and a witness in the street.
The man was described by the teen as dark, with a stubble of beard, wearing a green jacket.
A police investigation concluded that the man had been in several rooms because items had been moved out of place, but nothing was taken.
Anyone with information is asked to call the New York State Police (Somers Barracks) at 914-277-3651.
