The arrest stemmed from an investigation into the theft of jewelry from a laundromat in the town of Southeast, authorities report.
The investigation revealed that the suspect, identified as William Galvez, 26, had taken the jewelry, according to police.
Galvez was arrested Wednesday and charged with petty larceny, officials report.
The defendant was processed at the Putnam County Sheriff’s Department; he was released on his own recognizance pending an appearance in Southeast Justice Court on Thursday, Feb. 4, to answer the charge, authorities report.
If found guilty of the misdemeanor charge, the defendant could face up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $1,000, authorities said.
