Nicholas C. Kruzykowski, 25, was arrested around 11:44 p.m., police said.

Deputies responded to the scene after receiving a call that an apparently impaired driver had been stopped in Southeast at the intersection of Route 312 and Farm to Market Road for three full cycles of the traffic light, police said.

The responding officer reported smelling “a strong odor of marijuana emanating from the interior of the vehicle,” police said. The driver then told the deputy that he had been smoking marijuana earlier, police said.

Police said that Kruzykowski failed field sobriety tests and was subsequently charged with driving while ability impaired by drugs, a misdemeanor; and unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.

Kruzykowski was released in his own recognizance and issued an appearance ticket for Thursday, Sept. 3, in the Town of Southeast Justice Court, police said.
