State Police In Wappinger Charge Man After Report Of Sexual Abuse

WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. -- An investigation of incidents dating as far back as 1997 has resulted in the arrest of a 61-year-old man by State Police in Wappinger barracks on sexual abuse charges.

Joseph J. Cacciatore of Cary, N.C., was charged Wednesday with two counts of Course of Sexual Conduct Against a Child in the Second Degree, a Class D felony.

An investigation indicated that Cacciatore engaged in multiple acts of sexual conduct against two victims under the age of thirteen between 1997 and 2005, state police said.

The New York State Police were assisted by the Cary Police Department in North Carolina.

Cacciatore was arraigned at the Town of Wappinger Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $15,000 cash or $30,000 bond. 

His next appearance is Aug. 2.
