The suspect, Victor Gaza, was placed under arrest by Yonkers detectives and charged with two counts of robbery in the first degree on Wednesday, according to officials.

The arrest came about following a robbery at the Chase bank located at 1222 Nepperhan Ave. on Monday, about 12:10 p.m., police report.

A male suspect entered the bank, approached a teller and produced a note stating that an armed robbery was taking place, according to officials.

Approximately $5,000 was handed over to the suspect, who subsequently fled the bank to an unknown location, police report.

Detectives began an immediate investigation at the scene, which included reviewing video surveillance at the bank, according to officials.

The department released a still photograph of the suspect inside of the bank to the media on Tuesday.

Police got a break in the case the following morning, when an off-duty Yonkers police detective who was involved in the retrieval of the bank surveillance video recognized a vehicle traveling southbound on the New York State Thruway as a possible suspect vehicle from the robbery, according to officials.

The detective immediately advised other officers of the vehicle’s location, and provided a description.

The vehicle was eventually pulled over by Yonkers police units in the area of 233rd Street and Jerome Avenue in the Bronx in the vicinity of the MTA train station, police report.

A male suspect who was initially inside of the vehicle attempted to leave the area via train, but he was taken into custody by detectives; the suspect, later identified as Gaza, was taken back to the Yonkers Police Detective Division, according to officials.

Detectives investigated further, and were able to identify Gaza as the suspect responsible for the robbery at Chase bank, police report.

Through further investigation and analysis, Gaza was also identified as the suspect responsible for a robbery which took place on July 22 at the People’s Alliance Federal Credit Union at 132 Tuckahoe Road, according to officials.

In that case, the suspect also produced a note and fled the location with approximately $2,240, police report.
