Taconic Parkway Stop Results In Drug, Weapons Possession Arrests

EAST FISHKILL, N.Y. -- Three people were nabbed on drugs and weapons possessions charges after being stopped Sunday, Oct. 16 by New York State police.

 Yvonne Dennis, 38, of the Bronx, Sygamora Boykin, 21, of the Bronx and Dakhai A. Carr, 19, of Brooklyn, were busted after troopers stopped the Acura they were traveling in for erratic driving on the Taconic State Parkway in East Fishkill, state police said.

During the stop, troopers discovered that Dennis was driving on a suspended license. A search of the car revealed that Boykin was in possession of crack cocaine and marijuana and Carr was carrying a loaded .22 caliber revolver, police said.

Boykin was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and possession of marijuana. Carr was charged with criminal possession of a weapon. Dennis was charged with unlicensed operation of a vehicle.

Carr is being held at the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bond.

They are due to appear in court on Oct. 21. Dennis, who was issued a ticket, is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 26.
