DANBURY, Conn. — A teenager from New Milford is accused of trying to scam elderly victims out of money after performing unauthorized construction work for them, Danbury police said Thursday.
Sabino Cooper, 18, turned himself in to Danbury police on Tuesday, Dec. 13 on an active warrant. Cooper was charged with two counts each of second-degree larceny, failure to give cancellation notice and violation of the home improvement contract requirements.
Police said Cooper showed up unannounced in September at the homes of a 95-year-old Danbury resident and of a 90-year-old resident, performed unauthorized work and then demanded money.
Cooper was held on $15,000 bond.
The investigation is continuing into the incidents, and more arrests are expected, police said.
The arrest was a result of a joint investigation with the Danbury Police Department and the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection.
