Teens Charged In Shooting That Put Schools On Lockdown In Danbury

DANBURY, Conn. — Four teenagers have been charged with shooting a Danbury man in both arms back in September, putting two nearby schools on lockdown and sending the victim to the hospital, police said Friday.

The shooting was reported at 1:20 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14, at a home on Church Hill Road, police said. Responding officers found a 20-year-old man with two gunshot wounds from bird-shot style ammo — one in each arm, police said. 

He was transported to Danbury Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The Westside Middle School Academy and the Mill Ridge Primary School were placed on a temporary lockdown after the incident.

Danbury police detectives determined that Camron Wilson, 18, of Waterbury; Cristian Centeno, 19, of Bridgeport; Antonio Luna, 19, of Waterbury; and Cameron Tallman, 18, of Danbury, went to the victim's home to rob him. 

And during the robbery, Wilson shot the victim, police said. 

At 6 a.m. Friday, Nov. 3, Danbury police detectives, with the assistance of the U.S. Marshall's Violent Crimes Fugitive Task Force, took Camron Wilson into custody at a residence in Waterbury.

The other arrests were made last month: Cristian Centeno and Antonio Luna were taken into custody by Danbury Police Detectives at Danbury Superior Court on Oct. 3. Cameron Tallman was taken into custody by Danbury Police Detectives at his residence on Oct. 4.

Wilson was charged with fifth-degree larceny, first-degree robbery, first-degree conspiracy to commit robbery, second-degree assault with a firearm and first-degree reckless endangerment. He was held on $100,000 bond.

Centeno was charged with second-degree assault as an accessory, first-degree robbery as an accessory, first-degree conspiracy to commit robbery and fifth-degree larceny as an accessory. He was held on $50,000 bond.

Luna was charged with second-degree assault, first-degree robbery, first-degree conspiracy to commit robbery and fifth-degree larceny as an accessory. He was held on $50,000 bond.

Tallman was charged with second-degree assault as an accessory, first-degree robbery as an accessory, first-degree conspiracy to commit robbery and fifth-degree larceny as an accessory. He was held on $50,000 bond.

Churchill Road is directly behind Mill Ridge Primary School and Westside Middle School, both of which were in session at the time of the shooting. Recess had just ended, police said.

Wilson was also wanted on additional arrest warrants. On the first warrant out of Bristol he was charged with sale of certain illegal drugs, second-degree breach of peace, misrepresent controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance or less than a half-ounce of marijuana, use of drug paraphernalia and first-degree failure to appear. He was held on $10,000 bond on those charges.

On a warrant from State Police Troop A in Southbury, Wilson was charged with failure to display plates, theft of plates, engaging police in pursuit, traffic control signals, improper use of Marker, illegal operation of a motor vehicle without insurance, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, operating a motor vehicle without a license and second-degree failure to appear. He was held on $5,000 bond on those charges.
