Traffic Stop In Wappinger Leads To Drug Charges For 23-Year-Old Woman

DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. - A 23-year-old Dutchess County woman is facing drug charges after being busted with cocaine and painkillers during a late night traffic stop.

New York State Police troopers from the Wappinger barracks conducted a traffic stop on Poughkeepsie resident Vanessa Robinson at approximately 1:15 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 16 after she committed a vehicle violation on Hackensack Road.

During the subsequent stop, police reported that Robinson was found to be in possession of the drugs, prompting her arrest. She was arraigned in the Town of Wappinger Justice Court and charged with a felony count of fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor.

Robinson was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of 41,000 cash bail or $2,000 property bond. If waived, she is due to appear in the Town of Wappinger Justice Court on Wednesday.
