Trish Gallagher Becomes Croton Falls FD First Female Assistant Chief

CROTON FALLS, N.Y. -- The Croton Falls Fire Department marked a milestone in January when its first female assistant chief, Trish Gallagher, was sworn in, the Croton Falls Fire Department announced in its newsletter.

Gallagher has been a member of the department  for 31 years. Gallagher is also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and the North Salem Volunteer Ambulance Corp.

Her husband, Richard, is a 57-year member of the department as well as an ex-chief. They have the honor of being the first husband and wife to serve as .

The Gallaghers are proud parents of 11-year-old Timothy. Gallagher's family has been in volunteer service as well. Her grandfather was a life member in the department and her grandmother was a 59-year member of the Ladies Auxiliary.

Her brother, Kenny, is a current 30-plus year member. Her uncle was also a department member, but was killed in the Vietnam War. 

"It has been a long time coming, but I am glad I have made it to the rank of assistant chief," said Gallagher. "I am proud to have dedicated a good portion of my life to being a member of the Croton Falls Fire Department and enjoy it very much. I have seen a variety of calls in my 30 plus years, both good and bad. I am looking forward to my son joining while I am still a chief."
