Two Charged In DWI Checkpoint On Route 35

SOMERS, N.Y. – New York State Police on Friday established a DWI sobriety checkpoint on Route 35 in Somers leading to charges against a Ridgefield, Conn., man and a Katonah resident.

Steven Smart, 42, of Ridgefield was charged with a misdemeanor DWI after refusing to take the chemical test, according to police. He is set to appear in the Town of Somers Court on Jan. 12.   Carlos Ramirez, 42, of Katonah was charged with a misdemeanor DWI, after drawing a BAC of .20 percent, according to police. He is also set to appear in the Town of Somers Court on Jan. 12.
