Erica L. Feliciano, 31, was arrested on Thursday after troopers in the Poughkeepsie barracks received complaints from a town of LaGrange veterinary hospital regarding possible animal abuse, said Trooper AJ Hicks, spokesman for the state police.

An investigation in conjunction with the hospital found Feliciano's pit bull had died due to a lack of food or water for an extended period time, Hicks said.

Feliciano was released and issued an appearance ticket to appear in LaGrange Court on May 22.
