WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. -- County Executive Rob Astorino has reportedly formed an exploratory committee to challenge Gov. Andrew Cuomo, according to State Of Politics.

The exploratory committee formation is expected to be complete at the end of the week, according to Astorino spokeswoman Jessica Proud in the report. Proud also told State of Politics that state GOP Executive Director Michael Lawler "will be departing his party post to head up the committee on Astorino’s behalf," according to the report.

I think Rob Astorino is great, but this is nonsense.
He's being flimflammed by the same political/DC types that conned Jeanne Pirro. Don't do it, Rob. Wait four years!

kaceboy:

At least Rob won't tell people that don't share his political agenda to leave the state. Please do not forget that Andrew Cuomo was the head of HUD when the housing market crashed. He shares the same ideology as Jimmy Cater, Bill Clinton, and other Socialists. "Everyone should own a house whether you can pay for it or not. We will twist the arms of the banks and they will provide mortgages you really can't afford to pay. We will dump on the 'rich' which is really the Middle Class.

salowey@live.com:

Feeling doubly betrayed by Astorino. Liked the first term and voted for him so he could have more time to finish what was started in the first term.
So he "explores" running within weeks of re-election - Blatant Glory Hound.
Secondly, have lost all respect for his capabilities to make rational decisions if he thinks he can be Cuomo in just a few years - not gonna happen!

Duarte80:

This goes to show how a personal political agenda trumps the need of those being represented. No wonder so many people are loosing trust in politicians.
He should focus on one job at a time. This brings disappointment to the voters that put him in this office.

Robmaur:

He should resign as he will be taking on a different full time job. If he wins election he is going to resign anyway. If he loses he can run for County Executive in the next election. In my opinion he deceived the electorate as he had all intention of running for Governor all along. I also don't think he has a chance of being elected Governor.

paulfeiner:

Rob has every right to run for Governor. However if he is going to devote full time attention to raising funds so he can be a credible candidate and if he is going to be spending lots of time out of Westchester during the course of the campaign - he should not receive his $160,000 full time taxpayer funded salary. The County Executive of Westchester should send a message to all county employees --no show jobs are not going to be tolerated in Westchester county ---that applies to the top and to the lower ranking employees. I urge the County Executive to have his campaign (not the taxpayers of Westchester) pay his salary until after election day.

Truth:

Exploratory committee, cmon do it or get off the pot...the minute he won reelection he was running..hopefully he is still running the county while juggling his future. Remember Andy O'Rourkes run, for his embarrasment he did get a Judgeship.....

cyotos:

Good luck Rob. We really need a governor that knows how to lead. Time to gear rid of the dead wood, that goes for the White House too!!
