CORTLANDT, N.Y. – Cortlandt councilwoman Debbie Carter Costello announced her candidacy this week for the State Senate seat in the 40th District, which covers parts of Westchester, Putnam, and Dutchess counties.

Carter Costello will run for the Democratic nomination and other ballot lines in this fall's primary.

"As a life long resident of this district, I am excited about the opportunity to represent my neighbors in Albany and work to improve the lives of all the people in our diverse towns and villages,” Carter Costello said in a statement.

She has received endorsements from Assemblywoman Sandy Galef, Cortlandt Town Supervisor Linda Puglisi, Cortland Town Councilman Rich Becker and other local officials.
