League Of Women Voters Plans 2 Candidate Forums

BEDFORD, N.Y. ? The League of Women Voters of Bedford, Lewisboro, North Salem has arranged to sponsor two candidate forums before November's election.

"The events are free and open to the public," said chapter co-president Katherine Dering. "We encourage voters to come, ask questions and listen to what the candidates have to say."

The first forum will take place Monday, Oct. 22, at 7 p.m. at the Bedford Hills Community House. State Senate District 37 candidates Bob Cohen (R-Scarsdale) and District 91 Assemblyman George Latimer (D-Rye) have been invited, as have State Assembly District 93 candidates Robert Castelli (R, C-Goldens Bridge) and David Buchwald.

Congressional candidates Nan Hayworth (R-Mount Kisco) and Sean Patrick Maloney have also been invited to the Oct. 22 event, in addition to Bedford Town Justice candidates David Menken and Todd Gabor.

The second forum is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 29, at 7:30 p.m. at John Jay Middle School, 40 North Salem Road in Cross River.

State Senate District 40 candidates Greg Ball (R-Patterson) and Justin Wagner will attend, as well as Lewisboro Town Clerk candidates Janet Donohue and Jeffrey Morris. Hayworth and Maloney have also been invited to participate in the Oct. 29 forum.

The League of Women Voters of Bedford, Lewisboro, North Salem recently held two voter registration drives. The league covers three towns and, due to redistricting, two state Senate districts.

League members will soon be heading to Naturalization Court in White Plains to welcome new citizens and have scheduled a campaign finance reform coffee at a home in Waccabuc.

"We are working hard to provide the community with opportunities to get informed and empowered," said League co-president Lisa Pizzurro.

Anyone interested in becoming a member can sign up through the League's website.
