KINGSTON, N.Y. -- Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (D-Cold Spring) is taking his opposition to the new health care bill to another district.

Maloney, who represents the 18th district, traveled to the 19th district, represented by John Faso (R-Kinderhook) to hold a town hall on the American Health Care Act, which overhauls the Affordable Care Act. Faso voted for the American Health Care Act, while Maloney opposed it.

More than 300 people attended the town hall at the Senate Garage in Kingston. Maloney was also in Newburgh Monday to meet with residents who he said would lose insurance under the bill, which still needs to be approved by the Senate.

“This is not some vague political issue. This hits close to home for thousands in the Hudson Valley, and the folks that joined me today will lose health care – or worse – if this heartless bill is signed into law,” said Maloney. “The Senate should absolutely scrap this bill and start over by trying to improve the ACA and focusing on popular, bipartisan priorities.”

Protestors gathered outside Faso's offices in Kinderhook and Kingston Friday to protest his support for the AHCA. Faso said he voted for the bill because the Affordable Care Act had failed in its promises to the American people.

Faso will be on WAMC at 2 p.m. Tuesday and will be taking questions from listeners.

The 18th district includes Orange and Putnam counties as well as parts of Dutchess and Westchester.

The 19th district includes Columbia, Delaware, Greene, Ostego, Schoharie, Sullivan and Ulster counties and parts of Broome, Dutchess, Montgomery and Rensselaer counties.
