NORTH SALEM, N.Y. – As the new year begins, The North Salem Daily Voice asked North Salem Supervisor Warren Lucas about his wishes and resolutions for 2013. He replied:

“I hope everyone has a healthy and prosperous year and that our local economy starts to turn around. Also, I hope that Washington, in their infinite wisdom, can compromise and legislate changes that will get us past our ‘fiscal cliff’ and put the national economy on strong footing.

“I wish health and good fortune for all of our town volunteers, who serve on every board and organization in town, for our town employees, who worked so hard this year, especially the fire department, the ambulance corps and the Lions Club, who, along with a number of other volunteers got us through Hurricane Sandy.

“I hope and pray that we have no more tragedies in our town and at the same time keep the Baumler and Robson families in our prayers during the new year.”

Lucas also listed some of the things he looks forward to on behalf of North Salem.

“By the end of the year, hopefully, we will have new buildings for the highway department and police, court and town meeting rooms and will be getting rid of the trailer we are in.

“The Peach Lake waste water treatment plant will be fully operational with all four hundred sixth-four homes connected to it over the next month or so. One hundred years after the first cottage was built at Peach Lake, we are putting the lake back on course for a great future.

“And, just in case, we are working on generators at our water plants and have just started planning for one at the Sunset Ridge Water District.

“And, finally, to everyone in town, my best wishes for a great and wonderful 2013.”
