Fairfield Ludlowe Spikes Greenwich To Win State Volleyball Title

FAIRFIELD, Conn. — The girls volleyball team from Fairfield Ludlowe High School soared to win the state championship on Saturday evening over FCIAC rival Greenwich High.

The Falcons (22-4) won their first CIAC title in the Class LL division, 3-0, with scores of 26-24, 25-23, 25-16. The match was played at Berlin High School.

On their way to the championship, the ninth-seeded team from Ludlowe beat fourth-seeded Cheshire (25-14, 21-25, 25-20, 25-21) on Wednesday night in the Class LL semifinals.

Ludlowe gained the FCIAC crown by beating Darien in the finals. The Falcons repeated that win over Darien in the Class LL quarterfinals.

The members of the team include: Kate Steensma, Amanda Schramm, Olivia Albenze, Kate Lawlor, Nene Capeles, Tallis Monteiro, Abbie Costantino, Zoe Holderied, Isabelle Andrews, Emily Hermann, Carly Sappern, Erin Rosengren, Julia Wilson, Alex McKinnon, Alice Nelson, Gillian Quinn and Kylie McCaffery.

The Head Coach is Meghan Skelton, and the Assistant Coach is Stefanie Cole.
