Each year thousands of people attend this event, voted by Dutchess County Tourism as the "Best Event" of the holiday season.
Presented by the City of Poughkeepsie, in conjunction with the Bardavon, Vassar Brothers Medical Center/Health Quest, the Poughkeepsie River District Business Association, and the Walkway over the Hudson, the festivities begin at 6:30 p.m. with the parade beginning on Main Street.
The first tree lighting will be on Main Street; with the second tree lighting taking place at Dongan Square Park at the end of the parade. Fireworks follow at 7:15 p.m. along the Poughkeepsie's waterfront.
Following the parade at 8 p.m. the Bardavon will be screening of "Miracle on 34th Street." All tickets are $6 for admission to the movie.
