MAHWAH, N.J. -- Firefighters in Mahwah went for flashover drills Wednesday at the Bergen County Training Academy in Mahwah.

A flashover is a near-simultaneous ignition of combustible material in an enclosed area. Flashover drills simulate situations firefighters could experience when called to duty.

The Mahwah Fire Department operates the following companies: 

  • Fire Company #1 Rescue Squad: 100 Miller Road
  • Fire Company #2 Hazardous Material: 60 Island Road
  • Fire Company #3 Breathing Apparatus: Roszanski Lane
  • Fire Company #4 Tanker Operations: 50 Fardale Avenue
  • Fire Company #5 Tanker Operations: Stag Hill Road
