'Cam Jansen' Author Entertains North Salem’s PQ School

NORTH SALEM, N.Y. – Students at North Salem’s Pequanekonck Elementary School (PQ) were treated Monday to a talk by David Adler, the author of the popular children’s mystery series featuring fifth-grade sleuth Cam Jansen.

“My hope is that I will leave these kids with a sense that writing is fun and that anyone can write a story,” said Adler. “The beautiful thing is that anyone can write. It’s not like math, where you can get the wrong answer. With writing, it always works.”

PQ students will enjoy visits from four other well-known creative people this month in honor of National Reading Month. The list includes Helen Lester, author of “Tacky the Penguin;” Roni Schotter, author of “F Is For Freedom;” Jan Reynolds, author of the “Vanishing Culture” series; and poet Ted Scheu.
