NORTH SALEM, N.Y. -- North Salem High School seniors Sean Devey and Daniel Selzer have been named semifinalists in the 2014 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Both teens earned the honor through achievement on the 2012 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Each now has the opportunity to advance to the finalist level and qualify for Merit Scholarship awards.
To become a finalist, both must have an outstanding academic record throughout high school, must be recommended by the school principal and must earn SAT scores that confirm their earlier qualifying test performance.
“What a proud moment for North Salem to have two exceptional students qualify in this prestigious program," Principal Patricia Cyganovich said in a statement. "I will be very proud to recommend Sean and Dan.”
Merit Scholarship winners of 2014 will be announced beginning in April 2014.
