Rippowam Cisqua Names Colm MacMahon Head Of School

BEDFORD, N.Y. --  Colm MacMahon has been appointed the new Head of School for Rippowam Cisqua School in Bedford, effective July 1, 2015.

MacMahon serves as the Upper School Division Head and Assistant Head of School at School of the Holy Child in Rye.

MacMahon’s appointment as the 17th Head of Rippowam Cisqua School represents the culmination of a comprehensive national search.

MacMahon earned his master’s degree in organization and leadership from the Klingenstein Center for Independent School Leadership at Columbia University. He has served on accreditation committees for the New York State Association of Independent Schools.

MacMahon also has served on the boards of multiple schools, including online learning and charter schools and has impressive accomplishments in admissions, fundraising, marketing and enrollment strategies, curriculum development and hiring and management of faculty and administrators. “Colm brings with him nearly 20 years of experience as a teacher, adviser, coach, and senior leadership administrator at successful independent schools,” said Kirtley Cameron, Chairwoman of the Rippowam Cisqua School Board of Trustees. 

“He is an intelligent and visionary leader with outstanding communication skills, who brings a passion for education, for independent schools, and for the mission of RCS and the values that he shares with our school.”

Upon accepting the appointment, MacMahon said, “I am grateful for the opportunity to lead this remarkable, vibrant school and am thrilled to work closely with its outstanding faculty, staff, and administration as we move forward into very exciting times for Rippowam Cisqua.
